Parthenogenesis is a fantasy of symmetrical intercourse and lesbian reproduction. Its abstract narrative unfolds through a progression of transforming strings, drops and other motifs, as two bodies move through a process of bringing themselves together.
Momoko A-Takeda is located somewhere between Canada and Japan, and spends a lot of time dealing with distance and its challenges. She likes the lightness and portability of line drawings, and how they make space for things that can't exist otherwise. In all of her work of various forms, she is most interested in how we treat and care for one another (or fail to), and how that comes to be represented and embodied in the images and language that tie us together.
