Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck's practice is built upon a commitment to extending art into daily life and, likewise, to incorporating everyday life into artistic practice. As an artist who gardens, Johanna appreciates gardening hand tools, especially those which have been finely crafted, hold a piece of history, or amuse her. With a tendency for collecting, she found it more reasonable and achievable to collect certain tools through her drawings. In 2020 inspired by pieces she saw in person and museums' online collections, Johanna initiated a series of pencil drawings on paper dedicated to watering cans. Twenty-five ways to water plants is a collection of these drawings.

Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck (b.1990, Strasbourg, France) is a painter and interdisciplinary artist based in rural Oxfordshire (UK). Her practice composed of painting, drawing, installation, sculpture, film, photography and writing often conceals ecological messages, rendered in soft and delicate methods. In several of the artist's projects, interaction with the environment and others plays a central role. Solo exhibitions include 'Meeting' (Pon Ding, Taiwan) and 'Take Care – きをつけて' ( Nidi Gallery, Tokyo). In 2014, Johanna founded the positive and collaborative cultural project Poetic Pastel. In 2018, the artist co-founded the publication series 'Journal du Thé – Contemporary Tea Culture’.
