In Tokyo, Chris & Emi would enjoy going to old coffee shops to draw. This soon became evident as coffee cups, tea pots, and salon interiors started to appear in many of their works. Matterhorn is a collection of some of these drawings from the past year or so, and an insight to some of their favourite places.
Chris Hopkins is a visual artist currently based in Melbourne, Australia. With a background in graphic design his work blends set compositions with loose lines and energetic shapes. Chris has lived in Japan for the past 6 years, working with clients including X-Girl, Beams-T and Phantom Planet.
Emi Ueoka is a Japanese illustrator and editorial designer who graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. Her drawings are defined by an economy of line, a gentle warmth, and an understated refinement that can only be achieved by someone who has been drawing since childhood. Emi is currently based in Melbourne, Australia.
